Jesus Christ Our Living Hope

‘May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. ‘

Romans 15:13NIV®.

Today Resurrection Sunday is being celebrated all around the world.

It’s a special day marked in history.

This day in history, God proved that death cannot hold Him, laws of Science do not apply to Him, He cannot be defeated.

He is above all things that our human mind can perceive.

It would be good to read John 20:1-31 along with this post.

Close to 2000 years ago, Mary Magdalene with great sadness in her heart sat near the empty tomb weeping since Jesus’ body was gone.

She saw Jesus standing nearby, but she did not recognize Him. When Jesus called her by name, she had that great rush of joy in her that she cried out ‘Rabboni’ (which means “Teacher”). She was thrilled to find her Jesus alive. The same Jesus who had healed her and set her free. The same Jesus whom the Romans had crucified and killed, was alive and standing in front of her.

Jesus comforted her and asked her to tell his brothers about the fact that Jesus is alive. Mary did as was told.

When Jesus met His disciples on the first day of the week, He greeted them with the phrase ‘Peace be with you’.

Jesus knew they were discouraged with what happened two days ago. They were low on hope and they lived in fear of the Jewish leaders. They were uncertain what would happen now with Jesus gone.

Jesus with this choice of words ‘Peace be with you’ filled them with joy.

Jesus offers this same hope, joy and peace not in limited quantities, but in overflowing measure.

So today, if you want to know more about this Jesus who walked Earth and did the biggest wonder of defeating death on the cross, ask Him to reveal the truth to you.

If you already know Jesus, pray for someone who is not willing to share their life with Jesus, pray for someone who needs Jesus.

Pray that we would overflow with the living hope and pass on the hope of eternal life to many. Jesus keeps His promise. He will help us if we ask Him to.

Remember “blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” – John 20:29b

A song in closing for today. It’s sung by Phil Wickman
